We Can't Live in the 70's Anymore
The Maitland family was tired of living in a '70's home that had never been updated. The color scheme was canary, the cabinets were falling apart and the floor was separating. They knew it was time for a change. A change that had to fit in their budget. They had taken pictures of houses they liked, and pulled photos from magazines for inspiration. But they had trouble figuring out how to move forward.

Help Us Decide What to Do
When the Maitlands came to Peregrine Design/Build, they hoped to remodel their entire first floor. Peregrine's design staff helped the family decide what was really important by listening to their ideas and asking questions. To stay within their budget and meet their needs, the Maitlands decided to update the kitchen, eating area, family room and powder room where they spend most of their time.

Why Fix What Isn't Broken
After looking at different options, the Maitlands realized that the basic layout of their kitchen worked well for them, so they kept it. Instead of rebuilding their family room and powder room, they updated them. Because they really didn't use their separate dining room, they built an office area instead. Then, they worked with Peregrine to design the small details that made a difference.

The Difference Is In The Details
Peregrine installed a hutch in the eating area for storage and lowered the microwave so the kids could reach it themselves. To keep the house more organized, Peregrine built a "command center" so Lynda and John and the kids could each have their own drawers. Finally, Peregrine replaced the tiny window above the sink with a huge window that allows Lynda and John to watch the kids when they play outside.
